FORWARD PARTY-ENDORSED CANDIDATES

.

NM Rep. Kathleen Cates (HD 44)

Kathleen Cates

.

Democratic Party

New Mexico State Representative (HD 44)

Representative Cates has been a long-standing champion for open primaries, an independent redistricting commission, and free and fair ballot access for minor party candidates. She fully understands why these and other democracy reform measures are critical to healing our broken politics by incentivizing politicians to reach out to all voters, all the time, and not just to the party base. Rep. Cates' friends and family members include Independent voters and she understands why many people feel unrepresented by the legacy parties.

NM Forward whole-heartedly supports Rep. Cates' continued service in the NM State House of Representatives and, for the first time, Independent (Decline to State; DTS) New Mexican voters can vote for her in the upcoming June 2026 primary election.

Meredith Dixon

.

Democratic Party

New Mexico State Representative (HD 20)

Representative Dixon has represented District 20 in the New Mexico House of Representatives since 2021. She serves as vice chair of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee, and is a member of the House Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee. She has been a leading architect of New Mexico's innovation economy, and has helped pass more than a dozen laws to diversify and decarbonize the state's economy. Meredith is a longtime champion of child well-being, she chairs the Legislative Finance Committee subcommittee on child welfare and early childhood. In past legislative sessions she helped secure $60 million for early childhood educator wages, and sponsored legislation to improve CYFD oversight of children in state care. She lives in Albuquerque with her husband and two teenage daughters.

The Forward Party supports Rep. Dixon because she is a coalition-builder. She puts all voters ahead of partisan politics and that aligns with our brand and our belief system. She is known for making data-driven decisions and she is deeply committed to democracy reform measures and will be working with our leadership team in the 2027 legislative session on key election reform efforts to broaden voter participation and to create more competitive elections. We are pleased to endorse her and happy that she is enthused about our endorsement.
